Alabama State and Local Jurisdiction, Amendment 1 (1958)

The Alabama State and Local Jurisdiction, Amendment 1, also known as Amendment 1, was on the ballot in Alabama on November 4, 1958, as a legislatively referred constitutional amendment. It was approved. The amendment proposed to amend the constitution. The amendment proposed that the legislature would be prohibited from passing any act that would alter the form of government in Lauderdale County or any city therein, nor would the legislature be permitted to shorten the office of an elected official, unless such an act be voted upon by the electors and passed by a majority.[1]
