Alaina Burtenshaw served on the Nevada Public Utilities Commission. She was a member of the commission from 2010 to 2016, and was first appointed as chairwoman on February 2, 2011, by Governor Brian Sandoval. On June 24, 2013, Governor Sandoval reappointed Burtenshaw as chaiwoman. Prior to her appointment as chairman, she was appointed commissioner to the PUCN by Governor Jim Gibbons on January 18, 2010.[1]

Burtenshaw is a licensed attorney in the state of Nevada. After earning her law degree, she had a private practice, specializing on administrative law in Las Vegas from 1987 to 1992. In 1992, Burtenshaw then began her career with the Nevada Public Utilities Commission. Prior to becoming a commissioner, she served as staff counsel, assistant staff counsel and principal attorney.[1]

Burtenshaw was appointed to the Commission on January 18, 2010 and appointed commission chair on February 2, 2011. Prior to her appointment as chairwoman, she was appointed commissioner to the PUC by Governor Jim Gibbons on January 18, 2010. She was reappointed on June 24, 2013.[1]
