Alamosa City Council Compensation Increase Measure, 2009
The Alamosa City Council Compensation Increase was on the November 3, 2009 ballot in Alamosa County for voters in the City of Alamosa.
The measure called for increasing council compensation to $1,000 a month and mayoral compensation to $1,500 a month. The measure was suggested by Councilor Griego after noting that the last time the council received a compensation increase was 15 years ago. In 2003 a tax increase ballot measure was defeated.
It was placed on the ballot after a majority vote of 4 to 2 by the city council. Both Greg Gillaspie and April Gonzales voted against the measure. Councilors Leland Romero, Charles Griego, Josef Lucero and Mayor Pro Tem Kathy Rogers voted in favor of placing the measure on the November ballot.[1]
