Alan D. Marrus
Alan D. Marrus is a former acting justice of the Kings County Supreme Court in the 2nd Judicial District of New York. He was appointed to this position in 1986. Marrus was re-elected to this court in 1993, 2002, and 2012. [1][2] He retired from the court in November 2016.[3] He also served on the New York City Criminal Court from 1983 to 2016.
Biography
Marrus received his B.A. degree from Brooklyn College in 1967 and earned his J.D. from the George Washington University Law School in 1970.[1] He began his career in 1971 as an assistant district attorney of Kings County. He then worked for the New York State Office of Prosecutorial Services, serving as the assistant executive director in 1974 and 1975. He was the director of the New York appellate reference service from 1975 to 1977 and the chief of the Appeals Bureau in the Bronx County District Attorney's Office from 1977 to 1983.
Marrus began his judicial career in 1983 when he was appointed judge of the New York City Criminal Court. He was appointed an Acting Supreme Court Justice in 1986.[1]
