Alan Lance, Sr. is a federal judge on senior status with the United States Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims. He joined the court in December 2004 after being nominated by President George W. Bush.[1]

Early life and education

Lance attended South Dakota State University for his undergraduate degree, graduating as a Distinguished Military Student and Graduate in 1971. He earned his law degree from University of Toledo College of Law in 1973.[1]

Military service

Lance served with the Judge Advocate General Corps of the U.S. Army from 1974 until 1978.[1]

Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims

Lance was nominated to the United States Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims by President George W. Bush and was confirmed by the Senate. He joined the court in December 2004. He served as the court's chief judge in 2016 before electing to take senior status beginning on April 30, 2017.[1]
