Alan Meyer
Alan J. Meyer is the supervising judge of the New York City Criminal Court in Richmond County, New York. He was appointed to this position in 2009. He was first appointed to the Criminal Court in 1983 and his current term ends in 2022. He has also served as an acting justice of the Richmond County Supreme Court since 1999.[1][2]
Education
Meyer received his undergraduate degree from Long Island University in 1969 and his J.D. from St. John's University School of Law in 1972.[1]
Career
Meyer began his career in 1972 as a criminal defense attorney with the Legal Aid Society. He then worked in the Richmond County District Attorney's office from 1976 to 1980 as a supreme court trial assistant and from 1980 to 1983 as a bureau chief.
Meyer began his judicial career in 1983, when he was appointed to the Criminal Court. Since 1999, he has also served as an acting justice of the Richmond County Supreme Court and the Supervising Judge of the Richmond County Treatment Court. He was the Deputy Supervising Judge of the Richmond County Criminal Court from 2000 until 2009, when he became the Supervising Judge.[1]
