Alan Tucker is a judge of the Eighth Circuit Court in Illinois. He serves in Havana. He was appointed in September 2010 (effective in November) to fill the vacancy left by Thomas L. Brownfield's retirement.[1][2] Tucker was retained in the general election on November 8, 2016.

Education

Tucker earned a B.A. from Oklahoma's Oral Roberts University in 1978, going on to receive his J.D. from the University of Georgia School of Law in 1981.[3]

Career

Upon graduating from law school, Tucker spent a year working as a staff attorney for the University of Georgia before opening a private law practice in which he handled cases concerning criminal law, personal injury and wrongful death, admirality, workers' compensation, professional malpractice, residential and commercial construction, real estate and business/corporate law. He has also been a professor of the Coastal Community College Paralegal Course.[3]

Elections

2016

Judges of the Illinois Circuit Court stand for retention after their first full term. To be retained, a judge must receive at least 60 percent of the vote.[4][5] Alan Tucker was retained in the Illinois Eighth Circuit Court, Alan Tucker Retention Election with 82.54 percent of the vote.
