Calvin Schrage (Nonpartisan)

Working together for Alaskans: When I go door-to-door, far too many friends and neighbors are frustrated by the partisan gridlock we see in government which has only served to harm the people of Alaska. As your representative, I’ve worked to breakthrough the partisan gridlock by developing meaningful personal and professional relationships with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle, and focus on coalition building and common-sense, bipartisan legislation. As a result, we have passed significant pieces of legislation and even as a freshman legislator, been one of the most effective representatives this past legislative session. I will continue to maintain my independent approach to legislating to best serve and deliver for our community

Responsibility Balance The Budget and Protect the Permanent Fund and Dividend: We need to do the right thing for Alaskans today and tomorrow — diversify our revenues and pass a budget that’s fair to all Alaskans. Only by investing in Alaska, not cutting services Alaskans depend on, will we have a bright future for all Alaskans. As your representative, I’ve worked hard to uphold my campaign promises to be fiscally responsible when it comes to our state budget, protect funding for the essential services our community depends on, and protect the Permanent Fund and Dividend for Alaskans today and tomorrow.

Invest in Education & Public Safety: I’ve worked hard to help ensure families in our community have access to high-quality education, from Pre-K to the university and trade opportunities, as well as promote public safety to help ensure our community is a safe and healthy place to live, work, and raise a family. I will always prioritize public safety and education and will work to ensure we have safe roads and streets for our friends and neighbors.

I am passionate about public policy that directly benefits friends and neighbors in our Abbott Loop - Lower Hillside community and all Alaskans. I’ve focused my time in the legislature working hard for commonsense and bipartisan solutions to the challenges facing Alaskans and as a result, have been one of the most effective legislators, even as a freshman.
