I plan to incentivize affordable home construction, prioritize reasonably priced long-term rental units over exorbitantly priced short-term ones, and increase services for mental health and substance misuse treatment.

With the fall of Roe v Wade, I promise to protect reproductive freedom in Alaska where we legalized abortion in 1970 and where our supreme court ruled in 1997 that we have a right to "reproductive choice" enshrined in our constitution.

The Permanent Fund was established by Governor Jay Hammond to provide for our state far in the future when oil revenues had decreased; I will protect the Permanent Fund for our children and grandchildren as Gov. Hammond intended. I believe in fully funding all necessary government services without overdrawing from the Fund.

My number one interest is helping with a long-term fiscal plan. Health care, education, business development, and election integrity. Save the Permeant Fund Dividend.
After speaking with my constituents, I know that the major concern in my district is lack of affordable housing and increased homelessness. I am brainstorming with other elected officials and subject matter experts to find solutions for our housing crisis. As a healthcare provider, I am naturally interested in matters of public health and wellness. Finally, my military service and veteran status gives me specific insight and expertise in dealing with military and veteran affairs.

To Russia with Love: An Alaskan's Journey by Victor Fisher with Charles Wohlforth is my favorite book. The incredible story of Victor Fischer's life shows what's possible when one person sets their mind to making a positive difference and being of service to their community. From outlawing the death penalty to helping draft the state constitution, to founding ISER at UAF to establishing marine parks all along Alaska's coastline, the list of significant contributions from this one man is astonishingly long; however, it is his childhood in Nazi Germany and Stalin's Russia that is most moving. The fact that he so narrowly escaped that awful chapter in world history and ended up in Alaska is nothing short of amazing. I love this book, and I recommend it to everyone I know.
Yes ,I absolutely believe that compromise is desirable and necessary. Our politics has turned into a team sport where people are more concerned about their side "winning" than in what’s best for the state. I’m willing to listen to all sides of an issue; I’m open to my mind being changed; and, I’m willing to do whatever the evidence shows is best for my district and for Alaska. I have a passion for gathering information, processing it, and sharing it. I want to create space for all sides to collaborate and make the right decisions for our community together. That desire to cooperate and compromise, a rarity today, especially qualifies me for this job.
