Securing our elections.

Parental choice in education.

Returning the full statutory PFD to the people with back pay and interest.

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

Rachel Allen (R)

I feel the most important issue facing us in this day and age is election integrity. If we don't secure our elections and put safeguards in place our country is lost. I really like Captain Seth Keshel's plan for elections which include: removing all electronic machines, paper ballots only, clean voter rolls at the local level, ban mail in voting, ban early voting, drastically smaller precincts, ban ballot harvesting, make Election Day a holiday, new reporting requirements for transparency, and finally heavy prison sentences for all who commit fraud. Here in Alaska, I'm committed to getting rid of ranked choice voting.

I believe the parents should direct education that critical race theory and other social agendas should have no place in schools. Parents should not be labeled domestic terrorists for wanting to be involved in their children's education. I believe in education not indoctrination. Whatever happened to teaching reading, writing, and arithmetic?

I believe the statutory permanent fund dividend belongs to the people. The amount stolen from Alaskans is nearing $60K per person. All previous and current stolen amounts should be paid back to the people with interest. The PFD should NOT be part of the budget. It should be in it's own category.

Who do you look up to? Whose example would you like to follow, and why?

Jesus. I am first and foremost a Christian. I believe He died for my sins so that I can have the free gift of eternal life. I strive to be more Christlike on a daily basis.

What characteristics or principles are most important for an elected official?

Do the things that you say you are going to do even when it may not be popular.

What do you believe are the core responsibilities for someone elected to this office?

Rachel Allen (R)

Represent what the people want and the constitution.

What legacy would you like to leave?

Rachel Allen (R)

I want my children and grandchildren to know that their Mom and Grandma worked hard to provide for them and she fought to help save our Country and our State. I want my family to love this Country as much as I do.

What was your very first job? How long did you have it?

Rachel Allen (R)

Subway. I worked for a little more than a year.

What is your favorite book? Why?

Rachel Allen (R)

The NanoStealth series by Vickki Kestell. Even though this is a work of fiction, it chronicles a lot of things that are currently taking place in this world. I love the series because the author embeds christianity into every corner.

What do you believe is the ideal relationship between the governor and state legislature?

Rachel Allen (R)

Governor and Legislature should work in tandem with each other for the good of the people they represent and the constitution.

What do you perceive to be your state's greatest challenges over the next decade?

Rachel Allen (R)

Getting back to representing the people and the constitution.

Do you believe that it’s beneficial for state legislators to have previous experience in government or politics?

Rachel Allen (R)

No. If we waited for the people we elected to have experience, we would not have a government. Maybe that's our problem is that we have too much experience.

If you are not a current legislator, are there certain committees that you would want to be a part of?

Are you interested in running for a different political office (for example, the U.S. Congress or governor) in the future?

No

Both sitting legislators and candidates for office hear many personal stories from the residents of their district. Is there a story that you’ve heard that you found particularly touching, memorable, or impactful?

Should the legislature oversee or grant the use of emergency powers?

Rachel Allen (R)

Yes. The power should not be concentrated in one or two people. It needs to be spread out. The power belongs to the people.

Do you believe that compromise is necessary or desirable for policymaking?

Rachel Allen (R)

I believe some compromise is necessary. However, I am uncompromising on my beliefs and what is right and wrong as defined by the Bible and laws that are biblical in nature. If laws or policies go against the Bible and the constitution they should be null and void.
