Judicial nominations and appointments

Southern District of California

Albert Stephens, Jr. was nominated by John F. Kennedy on August 28, 1961. He was confirmed by the Senate on September 8, 1961, and received his commission on September 18th. Stephens service ended with his reassignment on September 18, 1966.

Central District of California

Stephens was reassigned to the Central District on September 18, 1966. He served as chief judge from 1970-1979, and assumed senior status on June 1, 1979. Stephens service ended with his death on September 6, 2001.
