Albert Purham

Albert Purham is an associate judge on the Tenth Judicial Circuit Court in Illinois.[1] He first took the bench in 2003, was reappointed in 2011 and 2015.[2][3][4]
Education
Judge Purham graduated from Washington University in St. Louis and received his law degree from the University of Minnesota School of Law.[5]

Bloggers not journalists
On July 25, 2007, Albert Purham forced a blogger to leave a courtroom where he was presiding over a child welfare case. According to state law, child welfare cases are closed to the general public, but reporters are allowed to attend. Purham ruled that a person writing for a "so-called blog" is not a journalist under Illinois law.[6]
DUI arrest

Albert Purham was arrested on June 27, 2009 on charges of DUI, having a blood-alcohol content of more than 0.08 percent, and improper lane usage.[5] His blood-alcohol content was 0.121. Purham pleaded guilty to the charges. He was fined $1,934, and his license was suspended for six months.[2]
