The city of Laredo, Texas held elections for city council on November 4, 2014. The filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was August 18, 2014.[2] In District 3, candidates included incumbent Alejandro "Alex" Perez, Jr., Ulises Salinas and Abey Lugo. Because no candidate received more than 50 percent of the vote, the top two vote-getters - Perez and Lugo - met in a runoff election on December 20, 2014.[3][4] Perez defeated Lugo in the runoff election.[5]
