I am an experienced attorney who has been practicing law for over 31 years. The focus of my practice has been appellate law both in the public and private sectors.
  • I have the experience that matters to serve on the Fifth District Court of Appeals. I developed this experience by working at the Fifth District Court of Appeals for 12 years as a staff attorney. In that capacity, I assisted in researching and drafting over 1,000 appellate court decisions. I currently work at the Fifth District Court of Appeals as the Court's mediation attorney.
  • I am also a certified appellate law specialist by the Ohio State Bar Association. I am 1 of only 25 attorneys in the state of Ohio who has this certification and the only certified candidate in my race.
  • I have experience representing clients in private practice before various state appellate courts and the Ohio Supreme Court.
I am dedicated to public service and I have spent the majority of my career helping people in the court system. I'm a good listener, patient, approachable and will be fair and impartial on the bench.
The core responsibilities include reading briefs, attending oral arguments and issuing timely and well-written appellate court decisions.
I will fairly and impartially apply the law as written to the facts of each case. I respect the three branches of government, and I understand each branch has a separate and distinct role to play in our government. Judges should interpret the law based on precedent and avoid results-oriented decisions. Judges should act professionally at all times to their fellow jurists and those parties who appear before them. Above all, judges should maintain the highest level of ethics and morals to ensure the integrity of the judiciary.
My rating by the Stark County Bar Association was "highly recommended."
I knew early in my career that I wanted to serve as an appellate court judge as this is the area of the law that most interests me. I took employment opportunities over the course of my career that allowed me to develop well-rounded appellate skills.
