Dr. Alethia J. Simmons is a voice that articulates the Heart of students, teachers, staff and parents. She received her B.S. Degree in Elementary Education from DC Teacher's College, DC and a Master's Degree from Trinity University. DC in Guidance and Counseling. She continued on to complete another Master's Degree in Theology and a Doctor's Degree in Theology from Liberty University, Lynchburg, Va. Her education and professional background of 40+ years as a public school student, educator, administrator, nonprofit organization founder/CEO, community leader, author, TV host, ordained minister, mother of a District 4 High School graduate and presently a grandmother of a PGCPS middle school student, she knows firsthand the cry from those who are often overlooked in our busy quest to provide academic excellence. Hence, she is humbled by this experience and looks forward to the opportunity to dedicate herself to connecting the pieces that will strengthen Prince George's County Public Schools.

American public education is undergoing major and rapid changes. Therefore, it is time to institute an educational reset and bring all stakeholders (teachers, parents, students, community leaders/partners, etc.) to the table and begin brainstorming discussions for enhanced and creative methods and opportunities that will prepare our students with the knowledge and skills needed to become successful students.
I received my first job at the age of 13 years where I worked at Harrison Elementary school in Washington DC as a teacher's aid. This was a summer job which I held for 3 months.
