I am a parent of 3 children in our school district, ranging from 1st to 11th grade. My middle child has special needs and we have worked with some very dedicated and passionate educators, especially in her smaller classrooms. My wife and I have lived in Westlake for a little over 10 years, with no intention of leaving, and our kids' entire schooling has been in the district.

My career as a community pharmacist has given me much practice advocating for community members’ health and collaborating with other health care professionals and insurance companies. During my 8 years managing the pharmacy at Drug Mart in North Olmsted and in my current role managing the Drug Mart in Wellington, I oversee pharmacy operations while processing over 500 prescriptions a day, work to maintain a budget, and manage personnel.

I believe that my experience working in and with the community has taught me many ways to be approachable; I have honed my listening skills, as dealing with medication leaves little room for error.

My most important role, however, is being a parent with a child on each campus in our school district, which makes me incredibly affected by and invested in seeing our schools excel.
  • As a parent of 3 children, one with special needs, I understand as well as anyone how different students' needs can be. Regardless of personality, ability, or interest, I believe all children deserve a safe space to learn and to grow - both academically and personally - as they pass through our schools. Westlake has added security measures to our schools, including most recently the vestibule at DIS, while also keeping counselors available and open lines of communication between the schools and parents. I would commit to keeping our students' wellbeing a top priority so that no child feels left behind or has their education hindered by needs that can be addressed collaboratively by parents and educators.
  • I believe a key aspect in seeing our students thrive is by proactively communicating with and supporting our educators, trusting their expertise, and providing them the resources needed to provide our children the best education possible. My priority as a board member would be to facilitate getting our students the best education we can provide and preparing them to take their next steps after leaving our school system, whatever that may entail.
  • There is much discussion about public school funding and property taxes currently happening at the state level. There has been a trend of decreased funding from the state, despite the Fair School Funding Plan, which will be an obstacle for almost every district across Ohio. While we do not know how funding will look in the future, I believe that we must be responsible and transparent with our spending. Our current board, along with our treasurer, has put us in a good position that prevents us from being forced to a levy immediately and gives us time to make smart and calculated decisions.
Our school board policies should put all children and their needs first. This includes safety and well-being, overall education, and preparation for whatever comes after high school.
Outside of our districts' immediate control, public school funding policies are what I feel passionate about. I acknowledge that public school may not be the best fit for every student, although I believe that the financial aid provided for private or charter schools should be, at most, proportionate in growth to public school funding as opposed to the current trend of how the funds are being allotted
Elected officials must be able to work with their peers effectively in order to accomplish what they are elected to do. Without a mix of open communication, shared goals, and compromise, they will lack the ability to efficiently create policy and support their constituents. Being genuine is a very important characteristic, as it allows you to speak sincerely and passionately about what you believe in. Open mindedness and working with others must accompany sincerity, as solely being passionate may blind you to alternate solutions to problems that are being faced. Finally, you must be empathetic toward those you represent and remember that you are elected to act on their behalf and not in your own personal interests.
I want my children, and all those that attend our schools, to be able to go on and be successful and happy in life. Westlake has a distinguished school district- I want to see our district not just keep up with technology, AI, or whatever changes we face in the years ahead, but excel at doing so. I want our students to be able to look back and be proud of having attended Westlake City Schools.
School board members need to work together, along with the superintendent and treasurer, to establish policies and oversee the budget in a manner that is best for the schools, the students, and the community. Having a child at each campus in our district gives me valuable insight as a parent; my current professional position as a pharmacy manager gives me budgeting and personnel management experience; and my career as a pharmacist, which shows my passion for helping others, gives me the ability to advocate for everyone. All these factors together allow me to do what I need to do in order to see my vision of growth for our school district come to fruition, while also keeping in mind that we serve everyone in the district - children and adults; parents and people without children; and most importantly, those that may not agree with us on every topic - because every voice is important and must be taken into consideration by their elected officials.
