Assemblymember Lee was elected in 2020 and became the youngest Asian American legislator ever elected and first openly bisexual state legislator in California history at the age of 25.
In his first year in office, championed universal healthcare, renters rights, criminal justice reform, social housing, and a wealth tax on billionaires. He was named “Legislator of the Year'' by the Golden State Manufactured Home Owners League as well as the California Attorneys for Criminal Justice.
Previously, he worked on statewide policy regarding public safety, climate change, and education for California State Senator Henry Stern and Assemblymember Evan Low. Lee has been a Bay Area resident since birth and called both San Jose and Milpitas his home for all his life. He is a graduate of Milpitas High School and the University of California, Davis, where he served as Student Body President.
- I was born and raised in this community, so I saw firsthand the effects of the skyrocketing price of housing. I am fighting for more affordable housing and renters protections.
- We are the only campaign not accepting corporate interest money in this race, so I am accountable to you - the people.
- As your current State Assemblymember, I continue to fight to guarantee healthcare for all.

After advocating and working in the State Capitol, I know I'm equipped to represent my community and develop policies to combat one of the greatest issues facing the Bay Area: the housing affordability crisis.
I am more than just a bold vision- I have served in the State Assembly and Senate as a legislative policy advisor where I developed the legislative knowledge and leadership skills necessary to excel in the Assembly from day one. Assembly District 25 deserves a new generation of leadership and I am ready to fight for our future.
If you live in the cities of Fremont, Santa Clara, San José, Milpitas, and Newark, I hope to earn your vote and represent us.
- Fix the Housing Affordability Crisis

Scorecards
A scorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.
Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.
Click here for an overview of legislative scorecards in all 50 states. To contribute to the list of scorecards, email suggestions to editor@ballotpedia.org.
