Alex M. Calabrese is a judge for the New York City Criminal Court of New York City and the presiding judge for the Red Hook Community Justice Center in New York. He was appointed to the criminal court in April 1997 and was reappointed in 2007 and 2017. He also served as an acting supreme court justice beginning in 2000 and was appointed to the Red Hook Community Justice Center in April of that year.[1][2]

Education

Calabrese received his A.B. degree from the University of Notre Dame in 1975 and his J.D. from the Fordham University School of Law in 1979.[3]

Career

Calabrese began his career in 1979 as a trial attorney for the Legal Aid Society. In 1986, he became a court attorney for Hon. Leslie Crocker Snyder. He worked in that capacity until his judicial appointment in 1997. He also served as an adjunct professor of the NYU Graduate School of Social Work since 2004.[1]
