Martinez's campaign website highlighted the following issues:[1]
| “ |
Alex Martinez is a proud product of the Arizona public school system. His teachers inspired him to become a teacher, principal, and superintendent. Arizona is 48th in school funding which has led to us being 47th in student success. These are appalling numbers, and he plans to reverse them. We need to insure that funding for public education is restored and that teachers are given the tools and support their need to help out children success.
Alex is a 36-year veteran of the United States Naval Reserve, eventually retiring with the rank of Captain. He has seen time-and-time again that our veterans are not being treated with the respect they deserve. So many of our veterans wind up in the for-profit private prison system for minor infractions, many of which could be avoided if they were given the services they need. That's why Alex supports increasing the number of veteran's courts in our communities.[2] |
