Alex Singer was a 2016 Democratic candidate who sought election to the U.S. House to represent the 3rd Congressional District of Nevada. Singer was defeated by Jacky Rosen in the Democratic primary.[1]

Nevada's 3rd Congressional District was a battleground district in 2016. Republican incumbent Joe Heck, who began serving in Congress in 2010, chose to seek election to the Senate in 2016, leaving the seat open. Jacky Rosen (D) defeated Danny Tarkanian (R), David Goossen (Independent), and Warren Markowitz (Independent American) in the general election on November 8, 2016. Rosen defeated five other Democrats to win the primary, while Tarkanian defeated six primary opponents. The primary elections took place on June 14, 2016.[2][3][4][5][6][7][8][9][10][11][1][12]

  • Immigration: Immigrants have been the backbone that built this country throughout its history. Immigrants have been vital to not only society as a whole but also to economic growth. America has always been and always should be a melting pot that accepts all those who seek to share the American dream and to make America the strongest country on earth. Las Vegas has a growing Latino population that has been a boon to this city economically and culturally.
  • Education: I support healthy and robust funding for public schools and an increase in pay for our highly qualified and underpaid school teachers in Las Vegas and throughout the country. I don't believe that public money should go towards funding corporate backed private schools, who not only underperform in comparison to public schools but also are in the education field to seek nothing more than profit.
  • Wages: I strongly support a $15/hr minimum wage that will always increase at the same of inflation that will include automatic increases that guarantee it always to be a living wage. In the cities that have raised their minimum wage, it has led to greater job growth in almost every case. When Americans have more disposable income they spend more and when Americans spend more money; the economy grows and when the economy grows, so does job growth.
  • Healthcare: I am a strong proponent of universal health coverage as I believe that healthcare should be a right, not a privilege. The Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) was a giant step forward towards ensuring that right for every American, but it can’t be the last step we take.
  • Seniors: To resolve the future funding issue for Social Security, a simple bill to lift the cap that income is taxed, currently at $118,000, would extend the program for generations of Americans. Raising the cap would only affect 6% of the wealthiest Americans. To solve potential funding issues with Medicare, a giant step forward would be to allow Medicare and its massive purchasing muscle with its millions of recipients, to negotiate lower drug prices, which would save the government billions of dollars a year and up to $40 billion over ten years. These simple solutions would be giant steps forward in solidifying and strengthening two of the most popular and successful programs in history.
