My name is Alex Spenser and I'm running for the United States House of Representatives because all of our voices deserve to be heard. #YourVoiceMatters

Politics is about people, and it is time for a new kind of politics in America, a positive politics that lets your voice be heard through the cacophony of hate and fear.

Where do I stand on the issues? I stand for people, for autonomy, for each person to create their life, to reflect their values and their loves
  • ❊Comprehensive Healthcare that benefits everyone from head to toe.

  • ❊Common Sense gun responsibility - securing everyone's rights, while securing everyone's safety. Expanding DMV licensure to include gun handling, and inviting the NRA to provide realistic gun safety and care classes that will prepare gun owners for licensure.

  • ❊Renew and create infrastructure that connects us, from bridges and broadband, to high-speed rail and air travel.

I am passionate about people, bringing people together to work for the good of us all.

Where would I begin, if I could begin anywhere?

Autonomy, ensuring every person has the rights to her or his own live body, to make medical and life choices based upon their own desires and beliefs.

Then, I would ensure clean, cold, healthy water is available and sustainable for everyone.

And, Healthcare security for everyone, from head to toe.
The most important principles for any elected office are a desire to serve the public good, the patience to listen to the community, one person at a time, and the capacity to be thoughtful of the insights gained by listening to the people who gave them their most valuable asset, -their vote.
I am a mediator and problem solver who sees the United States House of Representatives as an opportunity to be an instrument in the healing of the political divide that has created so much difficulty throughout America. It is time we come together and end the hate and fear that have become pervasive in America.
I remember being awakened for the moon landing. They sat us all in front of the television to watch.

I did the same thing with my daughter when Nancy Pelosi became the first woman Speaker of the House. I needed her to know that she can accomplish everything she wants to do in this life.

One small step for woman...As we look on as the next historic step occurs, a century of women voting in America, I will be the first woman to represent Oregon's Congressional District 2 in the US House of Representatives. We owe it to all of our daughters to show them that women matter in America, and we can break through the remaining glass ceilings and soar all the way to the moon!
I have three that I used to read every spring:

East of Eden, Steinbeck shows the reality of life in the most beautiful, sometimes painful, sometimes loving way. It is brilliant.

Their Eyes Were Watching God, Zora Neale Hurston gives an amazing view of life in a new town through the eyes of a strong beautiful woman.

The Enchanted April - Russell expresses the lives and facets of womanhood in such a beautiful way.
The strength of the US House is in the diversity of ideas and the collective collaborative opportunities inherent in the body as a whole. It will take members like myself, who have the strength to bring diverse voices to the same table, to take on the difficult issues of our communities and find creative, thoughtful conclusions that will support everyone.
While it can be beneficial, I am confident it is far more important for representatives to bring a diverse lifetime of experiences to face the issues of the intricate community we live in.
The greatest challenge we face as Americans is healing the political divide in this country. Everything that separates us diminishes us, it is when we come together that we have the strength to heal the world.

The next is to heal the environment, creating an environmental policy that can be sustainable throughout the natural disasters that will continue while the work is done.

And, healing our healthcare system and providing comprehensive coverage for everyone from head to toe.
