I'm an Assistant Public Defender serving Pitt County. I graduated with a B.S. in Criminal Justice from East Carolina University in 2014, and earned my J.D. from Campbell University in 2017.
  • Bring resources east of I-95 via the State Budget
  • Merritt and cost of living raises for State Employees
  • Fully fund East Carolina University and grant UNC-System schools greater autonomy in admitting students to accommodate the "enrollment cliff".
Criminal justice reform. North Carolina's Criminal law can ensnare hard working folks struggling with poverty, this is evident in the endless cycle of drivers license revocations from un-paid traffic tickets. No one should go to jail for being poor. I support legislation that would give District Court Judges state-wide jurisdiction in granting relief from Chapter 20 fines and fees to get more North Carolinians on the road and insured.
As a public defender I have to work with many different actors that have different interests. Prosecutors, police, victims, and of course my clients. I find the common ground between everyone involved and craft solutions that satisfy the various interests. That's exactly how politics SHOULD work.
Yes. "The most important single ingredient in the formula of success is knowing how to get along with people." - Theodore Roosevelt
