Alexandria Suarez is a mother of 6, grandmother of 1, former teacher with over 10 years experience, and a Florida prosecutor who is a strong advocate for unbiased education and keeping partisan politics out of the classroom.

  • Alexandria Suarez will work hard to ensure students learn how to think not what to think. As an educator, she led a school-wide critical thinking curriculum that resulted in high student achievement on standardized assessments and earned her school an A+ rating by the Florida Department of Education. Student success is her top priority.
  • Alexandria Suarez knows from experience that student success also comes from parental involvement in their education. As a School Board member, Alexandria will support parental rights in education and transparency in what is taught.
  • As a former teacher herself who had to leave the profession in search of better pay, Alexandria Suarez will work hard to raise teacher pay and reduce the costs to teachers in Monroe County, as well as ensuring they are provided with the tools to teach throughout the school year.

Alexandria Suarez is passionate about a high quality education and the health and mental wellbeing of students across the chain of islands in Monroe County.

Alexandria Suarez began her professional career as a school teacher. She taught at risk students in grades 6 through 10 for several years earning the Teacher of the Year award for her efforts. Then, she served as a public middle school teacher in Language Arts, Reading and Writing for grades 6th through 8th, working with students of all levels including remedial reading students before the school day, advanced and gifted students. After 10 years of teaching, she worked with students of varying learning exceptionalities, including autism. She served her school board by evaluating magnet schools across South Florida on their own successes and challenges. Concurrently with becoming a lawyer, Alexandria wasted no time in giving back to the community by serving as an annual guest speaker on behalf of the Commission of Ethics and Public Trust in local high schools, as well as mentoring seniors who intend to study law.

Alexandria's strong work ethic and integrity will make her a successful officeholder and example for students, faculty and parents in Monroe County.

Alexandria's legacy will be to be helping students get back on track and supporting teachers and parents so that children have the safest, most positive experience to be had in Monroe County School District. She is confident this will lead to a better community and future.
