From 1988 until to becoming a judge, Auna was a Deputy Attorney General with the Department of the Attorney General,Family Law Division and Social Services Division, in Hilo, Hawaii. Prior to that he work for the law firms of Dixon and Okura in Hilo, and Bruce M. Clark in Honolulu.[3]
