Alfred Mackey was a 2016 Democratic candidate who sought election to the U.S. House to represent the 14th Congressional District of Ohio.[1] Mackey was defeated in the Democratic primary by Michael Wager.

Mackey was a judge for the Ashtabula County Court of Common Pleas in Ashtabula County, Ohio.[2] He first joined the court in 1989 and his final term expired on February 8, 2015.[3][4] Statutory age limitations prevented him from seeking any additional terms.[5] He was succeeded in this position by Thomas E. Harris.

Mackey was arrested on January 14, 2016 because of "serial disruptive behavior" at the Jefferson County courthouse. He was "charged with one count of Obstructing Official Business, a 2nd degree misdemeanor, one count of Menacing, one count of Aggravated Disorderly and two counts of Criminal Trespass, all 4th degree misdemeanors."[6][7]

Education

Mackey received his undergraduate degree from Hiram College in 1963 and his J.D. degree from the Case Western Reserve University School of Law in 1967.[3][8]

Military service

Mackey served with the United States Marine Corps in Vietnam from 1968 to 1971.[5]
