Alfred Murrah was a federal judge on the United States Court of Appeals for the 10th Circuit. He joined the court in 1940 after being nominated by President Franklin Delano Roosevelt.[1]

Tenth Circuit

Alfred Murrah was a federal judge on the United States Court of Appeals for the 10th Circuit. He was nominated by President Franklin Delano Roosevelt on August 5, 1940, to replace Judge Robert E. Lewis. He was confirmed by the Senate on August 29, 1940, and received commission on September 4, 1940. From 1959 to 1970, he was the chief judge. On May 1, 1970, he assumed senior status and continued to serve in this capacity until his death on October 30, 1975.[1]

Western, Eastern, and Northern Districts of Oklahoma

Alfred Murrah previously served on the United States District Courts for the Western, Eastern and Northern Districts of Oklahoma].[1]

He was nominated by President Franklin Delano Roosevelt on February 8, 1937, to a seat created by 43 Stat. 945. He was confirmed by the Senate on February 25, 1937, and received commission on March 3, 1937. Murrah served in this position until September 9, 1940, when he was appointed to the Tenth Circuit.[1] Murrah was succeeded in this position by Judge Bower Broaddus.
