Alfred Redmer
Alfred Redmer Jr. is a former Maryland Commissioner of Insurance. He held office from 2015 to 2020 and 2003 to 2005. Redmer left office in May 2020 after he was appointed to serve as the executive director of the Maryland Automobile Insurance Fund effective May 18, 2020.[1]
Redmer was also a member of the Maryland House of Delegates from 1991 to 2003. He served as minority leader from 2001 to 2003.
Redmer was a Republican candidate for District 7 in the Maryland State Senate in the November 2, 2010, state legislative elections.
Biography
Born in Baltimore, Redmer was the president of Redmer Insurance Group, LLC, and a partner and president of Landmark Insurance & Financial Group.[2][3]

Political career
Maryland Commissioner of Insurance (2003-2005, 2015-2020)
Redmer has served in office since January 2015 as the Maryland Commissioner of Insurance. He replaced Therese Goldsmith, who served in office from 2011 to 2015. He previously held the role from June 2003 to October 2005.
Member of House of Delegates (1991-2003)
Redmer represented District 8 in the Maryland House of Delegates from 1991 to 2003. He served as House Minority Leader from 2001 to 2003.

Redmer was defeated by J.B. Jennings in the September 14 Republican primary for Maryland State Senate.
Appointments
2019
Gov. Larry Hogan (R) reappointed Redmer as Maryland commissioner of insurance in 2019. The Maryland State Senate approved the reappointment in April 2019.[5]

Redmer was appointed as Maryland commissioner of insurance by Gov. Larry Hogan (R) in January 2015.[4]
