  • Ensuring fair, lawful, and timely court proceedings so that every person who comes before the court—victims, defendants, and families alike—receives due process, clear rulings, and resolution without unnecessary delay.
  • Maintaining a courtroom culture of dignity, accessibility, and respect, including meaningful ADA access and procedures that ensure people can actually participate in their cases.
  • Applying the law as written while using evidence-based practices appropriately, ensuring that judicial discretion is exercised thoughtfully, transparently, and within ethical limits—not driven by ideology or outcomes, but by law and facts.
I am passionate about the role of a judge as the protector of process—ensuring a calm, consistent courtroom where the law is upheld, dignity is preserved, and justice is delivered timely and according to the law. Integrity in the courtroom is the highest calling of a judge, ensuring that every party knows they can present their case fully and fairly. As an attorney since 2007, I have served as both a prosecutor and a public defender, and have worked in private practice as well as legal aid. I have seen how the system can exclude people and silence voices. The court belongs to the people, and they should leave knowing the law was followed, their rights were respected, and the judge ensured the process was carried out correctly.

Campaign website

Perez's campaign website stated the following:

Policies: We Can Do More

Policy Ideas for Bexar County

Judges do not write laws, but judges are responsible for how the law is carried out in real people’s lives. They can also be leaders in the courthouse to push policies that advance justice beyond what is expected in the regular job description.

In County Court, judges make daily decisions that affect liberty, dignity, access, and public trust. These are the areas where I believe a judge can lead with clarity, efficiency, and humanity while faithfully applying the law.

Jail Oversight & Pretrial Justice

People should not remain in jail longer than the law allows. Courts play a critical role in ensuring that pretrial detention follows the law, respects constitutional rights, and does not become punishment before conviction.
