Alicia is an executive director and a proud mother of two awesome boys Walter (12) and Alonzo (8), running for At Large Park Commissioner with the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board. She was raised by a strong and spirited single mom and grew up in public housing. She knows firsthand the power of recreation, the importance of family and our parks are key in bridging all those elements. She believes the parks are capable of doing more for the community and that is what she intends to do in partnership with the community and other elected officials. Alicia knows bringing people together to fight for solutions can be truly transformative, not just for ourselves but for our communities.

Alicia is involved in youth mentorship, food justice, economic and housing justice, community policing, negotiating, and fighting for equality of all people. Alicia is driven by serving and wants to put her skills and experience to use for the public good, and to create a greater sense of community and government accountability in our parks and beyond. Minneapolis deserves better neighborhood parks and better recreational options for every resident including those who may not be traditionally housed. She is running to make sure community voices will be heard and included when creating policy/solutions that are supposed to work for us all.

I am a great listener, I know how to work in partnership, I believe in hearing many voice including those who have been historically left out. I have managed people and programs. I know community. I am humble enough to know when I need help.
