Alisa McKinney was a nonpartisan candidate for at-large representative on the Detroit City Council in Michigan. McKinney was defeated in the primary election on August 8, 2017.

Biography

McKinney was born in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, and moved to Detroit when she was five years old. She received a bachelor's degree in liberal arts from Rochester College (then called Michigan Christian College).[1]

The city of Detroit, Michigan, held elections for mayor, city council, city clerk, and the Detroit Board of Police Commisisoners on November 7, 2017. A primary election was held on August 8, 2017. The filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was April 25, 2017.[2]

Incumbent Brenda Jones, incumbent Janee Ayers, Mary Waters, and Beverly Kindle-Walker defeated Alisa McKinney in the primary election for two at-large seats on the Detroit City Council.[3]
