Allan McVey is the West Virginia Commissioner of Insurance. McVey assumed office on September 22, 2021. McVey's current term ends on January 15, 2029.
McVey was appointed to the position by Governor Jim Justice (R), to fill the vacancy created by James Dodrill's resignation.[1]
McVey also served as the state's insurance commissioner from 2017 to 2019. He was appointed to the position by Gov. Justice and assumed office on April 1, 2017.[2] McVey left office in 2019 after Gov. Justice appointed him to serve as secretary of administration.[3]
Biography
Allan McVey earned a bachelor's degree in business administration from West Virginia State University. McVey's career experience includes working as the cabinet secretary of the West Virginia Department of Administration, an insurance agent, a medical claims examiner with the West Virginia Workers' Compensation Fund, and a broker.[4]

2017-2019
McVey was appointed to serve as West Virginia insurance commissioner on February 15, 2017. He assumed office on April 1, 2017. He succeeded general counsel Andrew Pauley, who served as acting commissioner after the tenure of former Commissioner Michael D. Riley.[5] McVey left the office in January 2019.[3]
