Allen F. Bennett was a judge of the Fourth Circuit Court in Illinois. He served as the resident judge for Shelby County. Bennett was elected on November 6, 2012, to succeed retired Judge Michael P. Kiley. He passed away on November 29, 2017.[1][2]

Bennett previously served as a member of the Illinois State Legislature, representing parts of Shelby, Moultrie, and Macon Counties.[2]

Bennett earned an undergraduate degree from the University of Illinois and a J.D. from the University of Tennessee. His professional experience included work as the state's attorney for Moultrie County and an attorney in private practice.[3][4]

Bennett defeated Stephen G. Friedel on Nov. 6, 2012, receiving 68.3 percent of the vote. He ran unopposed in the Republican primary on March 20, 2012. Democrat Liz Nohren withdrew from the race.[5][1][6][7]
