Allen Park City Levy Increase Proposal (November 2012)

Two Allen Park City Levy Increase proposals were on the November 6, 2012 election ballot in Wayne County, which is in Michigan, where they were approved.
The first proposal amended the Allen Park City Charter to authorize the City to levy an additional tax of 4 mills ($4 per $1,000 of assessed valuation) for 2 years in order to fund the operations of the City. The estimated first year revenue from this tax is $2,997,695.[1]
The second proposal amended the Allen Park City Charter to require voter approval of all bond issues that would be backed in whole or part by the taxing power of the city.

“ | It is proposed that Section 8.1 of the City of Allen Park City Charter be amended to temporarily allow the City to levy an additional ad valorem tax up to $4.00 per $1,000 in taxable value (4.0 mills), effective December 1, 2012, for period of two years, which will raise approximately $2,997,695.00 in the first year it is levied.
