Basic facts | |
Location: | California |
The Alliance for California's Renewal was a ballot measure political committee in California. The committee was formed in October 2007 to oppose Proposition 93, a ballot question that appeared on the February 5, 2008, California special presidential primary ballot.
U.S. Term Limits announced that it had donated $1.5 million to the Alliance for California's Renewal, as did Steve Poizner.[1]
Funding disclosure
The group faced questions from voter education organizations for not disclosing a list of the individual donors from the $1.5 million donated by U.S. Term Limits. "Voters deserve as much information as possible," said Sarah Rose, representing the California League of Conservation Voters. The Ballot Initiative Strategy Center has come out strongly against not disclosing the donors.[2]
U.S. Term Limits said it was not legally required to disclose individual donors and chose not to do so, partly out of respect for their privacy and possibility of retribution for endorsing term limits.
