Born and raised on the south side of St. Louis, AJ Foster is a proud product of St. Louis Public Schools, attending Gateway Middle School and Metro Academic and Classical Academy. Her upbringing in St. Louis shaped her perspective and instilled a deep commitment to education equity and community-building. AJ’s experiences in SLPS highlighted the value of authentic relationships in education and the critical role belonging plays in student success. AJ is deeply committed to improving St. Louis Public Schools through a shared governance model prioritizing trust-building, inclusivity, and high-quality educational opportunities. Guided by her diverse professional and lived experiences, AJ understands the importance of evidence-based practices, inclusive leadership, and transparent communication in building trust and improving student outcomes. She strives to foster new perspectives and respectful collaboration, helping shape a forward-thinking school board where every student has the resources and support to succeed.
  • Ensuring our financial future through tax abatements, outcomes-based contracting, and allocating resources appropriately and equitably for all students across the city.
  • Investing in both our students' and teacher's experiences. This looks like rebuilding our pay scale for new and experienced teachers and implementing sustainable and relevant curriculum that excites our students and encourages them to learn.
  • Building our collective power to make decisions alongside our school district. 100% of decisions made by school members impacts at least one family. We have to build with our communities, and not just for our communities.
