|- We can have both a resilient marine economy and a healthy and a resilient environment. The winter storms of 2024 have made it clear that the climate is changing and we need to adapt, which will take many forms. It also requires a recognition that our heritage natural-resources-based industries in fishing and farming deserve our support. Our farmers and fishermen have been some of the best stewards of our environment because they recognize that their livelihood relies on maintaining the resource.
- Maine's best resource is her people. We need to ensure a quality education from pre-K through high school and beyond. We need to provide opportunities for our young adults to live and work and raise families in this state. And we need options in caring for our older residents. A a former teacher, I understand the importance of and support well-rounded education, both in academics and practical and technical skills. Maine also needs to be part of the 21st century workforce as well as support our heritage industries in the woods and on the water. My work on Marine Resources committee illustrates my commitment. Finally, I serve on an advisory board for home-sharing, as one housing option for our seniors.
- Maine needs to invest in its infrastructure - its roads and bridges as well as our communication system, including broadband. If the pandemic taught us anything, it was that high-speed internet was essential in our rural communities. I've been lucky to be part of a multi-town team to support broadband in our communities. I also understand the challenges involved in maintaining municipal networks and plan to work on this in the next legislature. Living in a community adjacent to a large employer like Bath Iron Works means not only having a deep appreciation of our roads but also what it takes to maintain them. Finally, infrastructure also includes ensuring reliable utilities such as electricity, water and energy.

Scorecards
A scorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.
Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.
