Hetz's campaign website highlighted the following issues:[1]
“ | The Education System
Wisconsin needs welders, chefs, mechanics, and carpenters. We need to promote our students to attend tech schools to learn hands-on skills. These skills will prepare them for life, and not put them thousands of dollars in debt. It will present them with opportunities to better themselves and the communities in which they live. Skilled employees in trade-work are some of the most desired individuals at this time, and it is crucial that our students can match those skills to be employed. Tuition Freeze Our students need to be able to afford their education to get the degrees they need for future employment. I will do everything I can to support our students, and right now, Wisconsin needs to continue the Tuition Freeze. Economy and Jobs When it comes to the economy and jobs, I truly believe that Wisconsin can lead the nation again in manufacturing and business. This goes hand in hand with making sure that we continue to develop a strong and skilled workforce through technical schools. Companies know that Wisconsin is home to some of the hardest working people in the country, so we need to continue to provide the tools necessary for people to obtain these valued positions that are in high demand. One way to do this is through helping people that are currently receiving unemployment benefits get the skills they need to be hired in skilled jobs that have decent wages and can provide for their families. In April, Wisconsin’s unemployment rate was at about 4.4% and this shows we are on the right track. Continuing to build on our successes will make sure that we can continue to provide well-paying jobs for the unemployed. We need to encourage companies to stay in Wisconsin where the people will work hard and have the skills to get the job done.[2] |
