As a public defender, Allison has become a trusted voice fighting for defendants and victims alike and against the special interests that oppose needed improvements to the legal system. She is recognized by the Florida Bar as an expert in criminal trial law.

From Pinellas and Pasco to Tallahassee, Allison has become well known for advocacy work on reformation of the death penalty. She coauthored bipartisan legislation to prevent the application of the death penalty to the seriously mentally ill.

As our State Attorney, Allison will bring all she has learned as a public defender, victim advocate, instructor, neighbor, wife, friend, and mom to make our community fairer and safer.

  • Public Safety. Putting the criminal justice system in balance between prevention and accountability to reduce recidivism and recidivism that leads to violent crime specifically.
  • Juvenile Justice Reform. According to the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice, the Sixth Circuit State Attorney’s Office charges more children as adults than any other judicial circuit in Florida. A child put in prison is far more likely to reoffend by committing a crime of violence after being released than if the child had not been sent to prison.

  • Transparency and accountability. There is racial disparity in every angle where prosecutorial discretion is afforded in the Sixth Circuit: charging decision, sentencing recommendation, diversion eligibility, juvenile direct file, death penalty, etc. I am going to measure - and correct these racial disparities - and make all of the data publicly available on a dashboard on my office’s website.

Public safety. My opponent has said, after 40 years at the State Attorney’s Office, that the thing that makes the office the most effective is the lack of change, despite rising rates of violent crime and gun violence. As the mother of a 7-year-old child, I did not believe I had the luxury of sitting idly by any longer while the status quo perpetuated, just hoping for some sort of magical change. I decided to become the much-needed change to better protect our community.
