The following issues were listed on Adams' campaign website. For a full list of campaign themes, click here.

  • Standing Up For Women: Alma Adams’ support for women’s reproductive rights is widely known throughout the district, the state and perhaps nationally. Alma has led the way as the key spokesperson in the NC General Assembly on this issue. She has been clear in all of her comments that women should make the choice about their body and that a woman cannot call herself free if she does not own and control her own body.
  • Improving Public Education: Education has always been a top priority to Alma Adams. As a retired educator, Alma knows quality education opens up opportunities for anyone to live the American Dream. Alma has relentlessly fought against the reckless cuts to our public education system in North Carolina.
  • Providing Affordable And Quality Health Care: Everyone should have access to affordable, quality health care. The Affordable Care Act has moved us further in that direction. Alma Adams supports prohibiting insurance companies denying coverage for preexisting conditions. She also supports allowing children to remain on their parents’ insurance policy until the age of 26.
  • Strengthening The Middle Class: Creating and retaining good paying jobs should be the primary focus in Congress. There are things we need to do in order to strengthen and protect the middle class right here in North Carolina.
  • Protecting Seniors: Keeping our promise to our seniors in the form of Medicare and Social Security should be a top priority. They have paid into these programs their entire working lives so we cannot raid the benefits which they have already earned.

Scorecards

See also: State legislative scorecards and State legislative scorecards in North Carolina

A scorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.

Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.

Click here for an overview of legislative scorecards in all 50 states. To contribute to the list of North Carolina scorecards, email suggestions to editor@ballotpedia.org.
