Alma Sarelli is a working mom who moved to Connecticut 13 years ago. She has been a Westport resident for the past six years. She is an immigrant from Albania with a college degree in Business Management. She has been married for 22 years to her husband Nick, and they have raised four lovely school-age children. She has 13, and 16-year-old boys who are both at Staples. She also has 18, and 20-year-old daughters who are both undergraduates at Connecticut Universities. Both she and her husband run a national event entertainment production company in over 50 cities. As Executive Vice-president, Alma has worked in securing relationships with major name brand corporations for their company.

Besides her regular job, she is currently the President of Newcomers & Neighbors of Westport and was previously Vice-President of Events. Alma has been involved in the community bringing people together as a mom and as a community organizer. She was also the co-chair of the Newcomers Committee for Staples High School. In 2021, less than 10 days before the election, Alma ran as a write-in candidate for the Westport Board of Education garnering close to 600 votes. Through her candidacy for the Board of Education, she had a unique opportunity to meet and work with so many wonderful people in the town through this process.

As a mother of four, I'm passionate about protecting parents rights and the rights of their children from far-left progressive ideology. I will work to make sure parents’ have the right to know what’s going on in our schools. I will not give up fighting for Westport families and will speak out against people that are trying to sexualize our children by placing easily obtainable sexually explicit material in school libraries.

I want Connecticut to work for families in Connecticut, not just Government insiders. I want to restore economic opportunity, preserve decision making for families and create new vitality in Connecticut for everybody. I will listen to your voices and ideas so we can keep Westport excellent. My business leadership experience provides me with the skills to be a voice for Westporters and address the major concerns we are all experiencing.

Having safe streets is a top priority. We must support our Westport police department which has been doing an excellent job addressing the recent plaque of car thefts and home break-ins. I would re-examine bail reform laws to assist police in keeping dangerous criminals, especially repeat offenders, in custody. I will represent the people of Westport, not special interests like union bosses, state contractors, and political party insiders. Government must be responsive to the people.
I looked up to my Dad. He was a peace maker and a teacher where I came from and I take a lot his traists. I'm all about making peoples lives better. This was his mission in life where he brought people that were in blood fueds together and made peace between them. He helped the disadvantaged, the tireless, the poor, tjhose struggling to survive. In 2009, National Geographic had a segment on my Father and his mission to reconsile victims of blood fueds. They followed him everywhere during his travels to peoples homes. You see, people that were in blood fueds could not leave their home to go anywhere. Many were prisoners in their own home for years. I would like to follow my Fathers example to help people like my father did. That's why I'm running for State Representative. I feel Westporters do not have complete transparency from Hartford. They are being misled from politicians that have been in office for years. I hope to change people's lives in a positive way like my Father did.
My first historical event was when communisim in my country of Albania collapsed. We finally saw the light at the end of a long dark tunnel. The people of Albania were oppressed for over 50 years. Those were certainly long and dark days for all of us. We had no freddom, we couldn't trust our neighbors, you could not make any complaints about anything or any aspect. There were no churches, no synagoues and no mosques. I remember as a little girl I would wait in line for hours just to buy bread or groceries. You were limited to two loaves of bread. We were the first and only athetist country in the world. We were in complete isolation from the entire world. The only country that we alligned and had a relationship with was China. I remember growing up when the Chinese would visit our country. I felt like we were in a dystopian world. We felt like no one else existed but Albanians.
My first job was 15 years ago working with my husband as business owners of a large event entertainment company servicing over 100 citities nationwide. To this day, I continue to run our company as Vice-President.
Yes, I do believe that. It's the best interest of our contituents to make things work for our towns. I will work hard to work with all parties to make compromises of policymaking. If both parties cannot work together, we are failing our constituents.
