Alvin M. Yearwood is a judge for the New York City Criminal Court of Kings County, New York. He was appointed to this position in 2003 and was reappointed in 2005, 2009, and 2019.[1] He also serves as an Administrative Judge for the Bronx County/12th Judicial District Supreme Court (Criminal Term).[2][3][4]

Education

Yearwood received his A.B. degree from Lafayette College in 1983 and his J.D. degree from the Boston University School of Law in 1986.[1]

Career

Yearwood began his career in 1987 working for the Nassau County District Attorney. Later that year, he left to join the law firm of Heidell, Pittoni, Murphy and Bach PC as an associate. The following year, he became an Assistant Bronx County District Attorney. He worked in that capacity until 1996, when he joined the firm of Leahey and Johnson. He then moved to Leonard Zack and Associates, where he served for a brief time in 1997 before starting his own law firm: Alvin Yearwood, Attorney at Law. He then returned to the Office of the Bronx County District Attorney and served as an Assistant D.A. from 1998 until his judicial appointment in 2003.[1]
