As a first-generation college graduate, I understand the value of education but also recognize that everyone deserves a living wage regardless of education. I grew up in Santa Ana and graduated from Martin Luther King Jr., Carr Intermediate, and Valley High school. I received my bachelor's in Sociology and Political Science from UCSB and my Master of Public Policy from Pepperdine University. Working four years in Sacramento, I realized the limiting research on how Latino/a/e people are treated differently in the justice system because of their race. So, I decided to return home and attend UCI for a Ph.D. in Urban Planning and Public Policy. At UCI, I worked on a project surveying Santa Ana residents about the OC streetcar and gentrification. I learned the critical need for housing, safety, and cleaner streets. If elected, I will fight for housing affordability, community safety, and parking concerns. Since COVID-19 and high rent still impact many, I will prioritize rent stabilization and housing programs focused on underserved populations. It is also time to address the root causes of public safety and begin investing in parks and recreation, education, and mental and behavioral health initiatives for all.
  • A product of Santa Ana from and for the community.
  • A leader who has sat at the table with state and local decision-makers to solve problems.
  • A leader with formal education and lived experiences ready create change for the community.
I am passionate about community safety policies that target the root cause of the criminal legal system. Additionally, I am passionate about housing policies that create affordability for both low and medium incomes and target rent stabilization. The asthma rates and lead in the soil are two of the environment justice policies I deeply care to solve.
