Issues

Campaign website

2016

In an interview with Vote411.org, Teegarden made the following statements:[1]

State budgets and fiscal policy

  • Excerpt: "The reality is that Oklahoma’s current budget is cyclical in nature due to being dependent on oil and gas revenues. One way to help offset budget gaps is by creating a special revenue fund that captures overflow during strong revenue years and can be drawn from in weak years."

Education

  • Excerpt: "According to US State Department data, approximately 51- 53% of education funding goes to classroom instruction. In order to adequately fund classroom instruction and increase teacher pay, I believe this figure needs to be increased. I would support proposals that allow this to become a reality."

Incarceration

  • Excerpt: "Unfortunately, Oklahoma has a drug addiction problem. I believe we should revisit current laws dealing with non-violent offenders and explore options other than automatic incarceration. I would support proposals that allow judges more flexibility in sending people to drug court rather than prison."
