I’m Amanda Courtright-Lim, a proud alumnus of PVUSD and a candidate for the Governing Board. My journey has been deeply influenced by my experiences within this district, where I developed a passion for education and community involvement. I am a molecular biologist with a background in genetic research, but I transitioned into bioethics to advocate for inclusive education and support systems for all learners. As a parent of children in PVUSD, I understand the challenges families face and am committed to ensuring that every student has access to the resources they need to succeed. I also actively participate in our local schools through parent organizations and advisory boards, working to strengthen our community ties. I am dedicated to creating an educational environment that empowers every student and supports our teachers and staff in their vital roles.

• I am dedicated to fostering an inclusive educational environment that supports all learners, particularly those with diverse learning needs. By advocating for tailored resources and support systems, we can ensure that every student feels valued and empowered to succeed.
• I recognize the importance of addressing declining enrollment within PVUSD. By enhancing educational programs, improving school facilities, and showcasing the successes of our students and alumni, we can attract families back to our schools and ensure the sustainability of our district.
• I understand that our educators are the backbone of our schools. I am committed to prioritizing their professional development, mental health support, and competitive compensation, ensuring they feel valued and equipped to provide the best education for our students.

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

I am personally passionate about education policy and community engagement. I believe in advocating for equitable access to quality education for all students, supporting inclusive practices, and enhancing resources for diverse learning needs. Additionally, I value fostering strong community partnerships that empower families and encourage active participation in local governance. By promoting transparency and collaboration between schools and families, we can enhance student success and strengthen the overall well-being of our community.

What characteristics or principles are most important for an elected official?

Important characteristics for an elected official include integrity, accountability, empathy, collaboration, and vision. Officials must demonstrate honesty and transparency to earn constituents' trust while being responsive to community needs. Empathy helps them understand diverse experiences, enabling informed decision-making. Effective collaboration with stakeholders builds partnerships to achieve common goals, while a clear vision ensures that priorities align with the community's needs and aspirations, fostering adaptability and openness to feedback.

What qualities do you possess that you believe would make you a successful officeholder?

I possess several qualities that I believe would make me a successful officeholder, including strong communication skills, a commitment to inclusivity, and a collaborative mindset. My ability to listen actively allows me to understand the diverse needs and concerns of the community, ensuring that all voices are heard. I am dedicated to fostering an inclusive environment where every student and family feels valued and supported. Additionally, my collaborative approach enables me to build strong partnerships with stakeholders, working together to find effective solutions to challenges. I am also adaptable and open-minded, willing to learn from experiences and feedback to continuously improve our educational system.
