Amanda Ragan (Democratic Party) was a member of the Iowa State Senate, representing District 27. She assumed office on January 2, 2003. She left office on January 2, 2023.

Ragan (Democratic Party) ran for re-election to the Iowa State Senate to represent District 27. She won in the general election on November 6, 2018.

Biography

Ragan earned her B.S. from Buena Vista University. Her professional experience includes working as the Executive Director of Meals on Wheels and the Community Kitchen of Northern Iowa, a farmer and a human resources director.

Elections for the Iowa State Senate took place in 2014. A primary election took place on June 3, 2014. The general election was held on November 4, 2014. The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was March 14, 2014. Incumbent Amanda Ragan was unopposed in the Democratic primary, while Shawn Dietz defeated Timothy Junker in the Republican primary. Ragan faced Dietz in the general election.[1][2] Incumbent Ragan defeated Dietz in the general election.[3]

Ragan won re-election to the 7th District Seat in the Iowa State Senate. Ragan defeated Republican candidate James Mills by a margin of 12,908 to 8,452.[4]

Ragan was unopposed in the Democratic primary election on June 8th.[5]

2006

On November 7, 2006, Ragan was re-elected to the 7th District Seat in the Iowa State Senate, defeating Kenneth D. Young (R).[6] Ragan raised $156,210 for her campaign, while Young raised $35,604.[7]
