Amanda Taylor is a scientist, educator, and small business owner running for O’Fallon City Council. With a master’s degree in biochemistry, she spent 14 years in brain research at Washington University before transitioning to education and media. Now a substitute teacher and small business owner, Amanda is deeply invested in her community. As a wife, mother, and entrepreneur, Amanda is dedicated to investing in local schools, fostering a thriving business community, and promoting smart, sustainable growth in O’Fallon. She is running for City Council to bring common-sense leadership, transparency, and a fresh perspective to City Hall.
- Protecting Neighborhoods from Reckless Rezoning: My opponent has voted to rezone residential areas for high-density apartments, ignoring community concerns. While affordable housing is important, mass apartment developments strain our roads, schools, and emergency services. We need responsible zoning decisions that balance growth with community needs.
- Smart Growth & Responsible Development: O’Fallon is growing, but without proper planning, rapid expansion can harm our community. We must prioritize development that strengthens the local economy, protects our neighborhoods, and ensures infrastructure can handle growth—rather than allowing unchecked expansion that burdens our roads, utilities, and public services.
- Traffic & Infrastructure Improvements: With O’Fallon’s rapid expansion, traffic congestion has become a growing concern. Many residential areas now face speeding problems and unsafe intersections. I will advocate for improved road planning, additional traffic control measures, and infrastructure updates that keep pace with our city’s growth.
The core responsibilities of a City Council member should center around serving the community with integrity, transparency, and accountability. As an elected representative, my duty is to listen to residents, advocate for their needs, and make decisions that strengthen O’Fallon for everyone.
One of my biggest passions in public policy is being a true voice for the voters. Too often, decisions are made behind closed doors without real input from the community. I believe elected officials should listen to the people they serve, represent their wishes, and fight for their needs—not political agendas.
My very first job was working in a nursing home caring for Alzheimer’s patients, and it had a profound impact on me. I worked there for 2 years, and during that time, I saw firsthand the challenges faced by some of the most vulnerable members of our community—the elderly.
This experience shaped my deep compassion for those who often go unheard or overlooked. I learned the importance of patience, dignity, and respect in caregiving, and I saw how essential it is to have strong policies that support our seniors, their families, and the healthcare workers who care for them.
As a leader, I carry this passion forward by advocating for better senior services, and policies that protect those who are most at risk. Everyone—especially our elderly—deserves to live with security, dignity, and the support they need.
