My name is Amanda Vincent and I am a farmer, mother, and United States Army combat veteran.

I am the daughter of two Army veterans, and I carried on that tradition by enlisting in the United States Army in 2012. While in the military, I served as a Cryptologic Linguist; I am proficient in Persian Farsi (Iran) and Dari (Afghanistan), and I spent the last two years of my enlistment working at the National Security Agency. I also spent several months serving my country in Afghanistan. Thus, I am no stranger to challenges and am determined to use my experiences to bring about positive change in West Virginia.

As a young farmer, I am deeply rooted in the agricultural community; I am the treasurer of the Hampshire County Farmer's Market Association. As of this year, I am also a member of the West Virginia Farm Bureau. I am a strong believer of the saying, "No farmers or farms, NO FOOD!"

As a mother, I am deeply concerned and focused on those issues that affect our beautiful state, such as the Childcare crisis and our public school systems.

When I'm not speaking to people about their concerns, I am on my farm milking goats, taking care of my child, and raising meat rabbits.
  • What inspired me to run for office was the 2022 overturn of Roe v. Wade. To this combat veteran, the word "freedom" does not mean "forced pregnancy." Abortion bans are government overreach, and state legislators need to remove themselves from our doctors' offices. I will defend the right to abortion and other reproductive freedoms for all West Virginians. I did not endure rockets flying over my head in Afghanistan, to subsequently have the right over my own body taken away from me in my own country.
  • People will see the word "Democrat" beside my name and have assumptions about me and my views on firearms. I am a Democrat and there are guns in my household. I had to qualify every 6 months for 6 years on the M-4 and M-16, which are the military equivalents of the civilian AR-15. I want voters to know that my family responsibly owns guns and we (including my United States Navy veteran husband) know how to shoot them.
  • I believe working to solve our failing Public Education system in West Virginia will have a positive domino effect on other state issues. Our children deserve the very best free, public education, and our teachers deserve to be paid more. Right now, highly qualified teachers can drive an hour or less into another state and get paid up to $10,000 more a year. This is unacceptable.
I am personally passionate about abortion/reproductive healthcare rights; affordable, quality and accessible healthcare; improving our public education system.
The United States Army has 7 core values: Loyalty, Duty, Respect, Selfless Service, Honor, Integrity, and Personal Courage. Just as these values are important for those servicemembers defending the Constitution, they are also important for elected officials.
I have the courage and fortitude to speak with people who don't believe the same things I do. I know how to speak with people who are very different from myself; I did it as a job for several years. The incumbent in the office I'm running for frequently limits his constituents from speaking with him by blocking them on social media or not returning phone calls. If you can't talk to and listen to the public, you should not be in this job.
The first historical event I remember was 9/11/2001. I was 8 years old. I was in 3rd grade.
My very first job was at age 18 when I joined the United States Army. I was in the military for 6 years.
Stories that I have heard already in my campaign that have been the most impactful have been connected to the Opioid crisis currently ravaging through West Virginia. I am incredibly lucky and privileged to never have been personally affected by this situation, and listening to the heartbreaking reality facing many West Virginians has shaken me to my core. I am trying to learn more about how best to address this crisis, but I am in full support of harm reduction measures.
