Amber discovered her passion for service while attending the University of Wisconsin-Parkside. She proudly served as a student representative at a UW-Board of Regents meeting, using her platform to advocate for thousands of students of color and their on-campus experiences.

After graduating, Amber moved to Milwaukee to work under Teach For America. She became a special education teacher. Through her work with MPS and other education sectors in the city, Amber learned firsthand the many barriers children and their families are facing in Milwaukee.

Today, Amber’s most important role is being a mother to her three year-old son, Trey. Amber wants to show her son that anything is possible – especially when you are kind, motivated and focused on uplifting your community.
  • What's best for our children is what's best for us.
  • When our seniors and our children are well, we can say our community is strong.
  • ’m running to remind the folks in our district the power of collaboration and the tremendous impact we can have when we come together to solve our collective challenges.
As a Mother, and an educator, I am always looking for ways to make our neighborhood, our community, and our city a safer and healthier place for our kids. I strongly believe that what’s best for our children is what’s best for all of us. As Alderwoman, I want to bring the wealth of resources in our city to the folks who need them and empower everyone to thrive. My vision for the 9th district is a collaborative experience of celebration and community. A community that is excited about civic engagement. It’s our responsibility to raise our children in such a way that they’ll yearn to be a part of something bigger than themselves in their own community. I often refer to the expression “and how are the children” which is a phrase that suggests, the strength of a community is determined by the well-being of its children. I firmly believe what’s best for children is what’s best for everyone. By investing in our children our community will grow stronger. It’s going to take leadership, collaboration and unity to create and maintain a thriving community.
Marina Dimitrijevic-Alderwoman, Sean Lowe-Alderman
