Hi, I'm Amber, a devoted daughter of a disabled veteran and a hometown constitutional conservative running for District 30 State Senate. I grew up in Hot Springs on my parents' ranch and was first called to service during the Save the VA movement. From that moment on I vowed to dedicate my life to serving this community, to be a voice when big government overreach meddles in our lives. After graduating from the University of South Dakota, I had the honor of serving both Governor Kristi Noem and President Donald Trump. In the crucible of America's capital, I attended law school, refined my skills, and fortified my convictions. I worked at an election law firm and the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee for Senator Josh Hawley during the day and took night classes to earn my degree from Georgetown Law. Now, I have made true to my promise to come home and serve our community, as a fresh voice and tireless advocate to preserve and protect our way of life for future generations of South Dakotans. I’m asking for your vote on June 4th.
  • As a budding election and political law attorney, I understand that the integrity of our electoral process is paramount. Without secure elections and public trust in our election system’s integrity, all other policy issues fall to the wayside. I have dedicated my career to ensuring free and fair elections, recognizing that they are the cornerstone of our democratic republic.
  • Rising property taxes are the number one issue I hear about when talking to voters in District 30. The government should never be able to take away your home or ranch, and action must be taken to stop this abuse of power. As your fresh voice in Pierre, I will work with my colleagues to get legislation over the finish line and bring the long needed relief to our area.
  • Our law enforcement and first responders are the ones who run towards danger to enforce the rule of law and keep our communities safe each and every day. Yet, right now they are not being provided the resources they need to pay for basic necessities. Our fire departments, which are volunteer, do not have operating budgets to afford insurance and are using outdated equipment, begging for grants to keep them afloat. When you call 911, we all want our first responders to have all the tools they need to help. Our brave first responders deserve leaders who will stand up for them in Pierre - and that is exactly what I promise I will do as your next State Senator.
Election law, campaign finance regulation, military and veterans issues, education.
I grew up working on my parents hunting ranch. As the only child and daughter to boot, I doubled as the deer skinner, fence fixer, and camp gopher. I did this in addition to school, extra curricular activities, and working two waitressing jobs in Hot Springs before I ever turned 18.
Yes. Without coalition building, a legislator cannot be effective and use their full voice. If your District need something done and your representative cannot get a bill over the finish line, they are not an effective legislator. While standing on principle is important and stopping bad legislation is just as important as spearheading good policy, without strong relationships with the other members of the body you serve in, as well as relationships across the two chambers, it is almost impossible to pass a bill and get it signed by the Governor.

Scorecards

A scorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.

Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.
