Issue positions
Power generation
ANGA supports the increased utilization of natural gas for power generation. Owing in part to the recent development of shale gas deposits, ANGA argues:[7]
“ | Natural gas is unique among our energy choices because we have vast domestic supplies - and underutilized capacity - that is ready now to play a growing role generating cleaner, affordable electricity for America's homes and businesses. Current natural gas generation capacity is underutilized and natural gas is a highly attractive choice for building new capacity.[4] | ” |

Transportation
ANGA promotes the development of natural gas vehicles, arguing that such vehicles "outperform conventional fuels with a significantly higher octane rating, better fuel efficiency and lower operating costs -- all while offering dramatic reductions in emissions." ANGA proposes that by using natural gas to fuel large fleet vehicles (such as heavy-duty trucks and buses), "America can ease its dependence on foreign oil, dramatically reduce harmful emissions into our air and create clean energy jobs here at home."[8]
Development
ANGA argues that recent technological advancements in the exploration and development of oil and natural gas -- namely, fracking and horizontal drilling -- can "advance [the nation's] environment, economy and energy security." ANGA maintains that these new practices are environmentally sound and that current safeguards and regulations are sufficient.[9]
“ | We are committed to helping communities where we conduct our operations understand the proven, scientific safeguards and vigilant regulatory oversight that is in place today to help ensure that natural gas continues to be produced in harmony with the local environment.[4] | ” |

Liquefied natural gas exports
ANGA supports expanded exportation of liquefied natural gas (LNG), arguing that "when free trade is allowed to flourish our economy enjoys greater prosperity, our people greater economic benefits and our workers more and better jobs." Currently, the exportation of LNG is limited by the Department of Energy, owing to the fact that the U.S. only recently attained natural gas self-sufficiency (having previously relied on imports to meet demand).[10][11]
